Welcome to the first episode of the TENNIS DOCTORS RADIO SHOW with your hosts Dr. Mark Kovacs and Dr. Adam Shafran. The purpose of this radio show is to discuss the latest information on training for competitive tennis. This first show discusses the new book TENNIS TRAINING: ENHANCING ON-COURT PERFORMANCE which combines over 300 research studies in a practical manner to help coaches, parents and players improve tennis performance. During the show Drs. Mark and Adam talk about the Davis Cup Final and some of the major juniors tournaments in the month of December. Mark Kovacs, PhD, CSCS, USPTA, is a former All-American, NCAA doubles title winner and professional tennis player. He has a PhD in exercise physiology and focuses his research, coaching and consulting on improving human performance.He has coached many highly ranked junior, collegiate, and professional tennis players and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a certified sprints coach with the U.S. Track and Field Coaches Association and a USPTA certified tennis coach. He lives in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Kovacs is also on Faculty at Jacksonville State University as well a a co-author of the most comprehensive tennis training text available, with over 300 scientific references titled TENNIS TRAINING: ENHANCING ON-COURT PERFORMANCE.
